  • Do we have lockers?

    Posted by:

We do not have lockers in third grade.  It is not wise to bring anything to school that is not for school.  So please leave all your toys and electronics at home.

  • Will I have a lot of homework?

    Posted by:

Typically, third graders are expected to spend 40 mnutes reading in an appropriate, "good fit" book, and keep and accurate and up to date reading log.  We have about half that time built into our school day, so you will need to find 20 minutes each night to read on your own. You will also need to make sure that you are practicing your math facts every day!  Students may have some work that was not completed during the school day, and may have to finish at home.

Projects and long term assignments help students to build the skills of time management and organization. These tasks will have check points and final due dates assigned with them to help students manage their work.

  • Can I have a snack/water bottle at my seat?

    Posted by:

Yes, you may have a snack during the day if you feel you need one. Our lunch is at 12:50. Please know that your snack must be a healthy choice, easy to eat, complies with our allergy restrictions, and is not a distraction to your learning or the learning of others. If you have any questions, please send me a message and I can give acceptable suggestions.

You may have a water bottle with you at your seat. Please do not bring in glass bottles. No flavored water, juices, or other drinks: WATER ONLY.

  • Do we celebrate birthdays/holidays?

    Posted by:

We celebrate birthdays and have a few class celebrations throughout the year. July birthdays are celebrated on their half birthday in January, and August birthdays are celebrated on their half birthday in February. If your birthday falls on a weekend or holiday, we will celebrate on the day prior or after.

No food treats are allowed for birthdays, however if you would like to bring in a small trinket for your classmates, you may. Students like to bring in a t-shirt or sports ball to have their classmates sign.

  • What is the best way to contact you?

    Posted by:

The easiest way is through our Class Management System: Class Dojo. You must use the registration information (sent home the first week of school) to connect to our class. There, you can send me a message and I will get back to you as soon as I am able.

Also, you may send me an email at awilcox@opschools.org
