Building Effectiveness Team
-
Since 1993, the Orchard Park School District has a policy for teachers, school-related personnel, and parents to participate in school-based planning and shared decision-making. Ellicott’s shared-decision making team is called the Building Effectiveness Team or BET.
What is BET?
BET is a team of people that comes together once per month for the students of their school. The purpose of the BET is to improve student life and learning. This group operates under the philosophy that our school is working toward continual improvement in all areas.
Who is on Ellicott's BET?
Members of Ellicott's BET are representatives of our school community. Our team is currently made up of 2 administrators, 2 parents, 2 SRP (school-related personnel) and 3 teachers. The members of this group have all attended training in the process of building consensus and the conflict resolution process.
What topics can be discussed at BET?
Topics that are educational in nature, academics, programming, procedures and operations of the school, and overall well-being and climate of students, staff and school are appropriate for BET. Some items that are not appropriate topics include confidential matters of personnel or students and items that are out of the control of the school.
Anyone can bring forth an item for discussion at the BET. Please complete the BET form. Your concerns are welcome! Parent members report and ask for input from the PTO, and staff members report and ask for input from all staff.
Research supports the partnership between home and school. Not only is it good practice, but it is the right thing for our students. We all want to work to make Ellicott Elementary the best school it can be for our students. If you have any questions, please let us know. Thank you for your support.
