About PARP/Summer Reading

  • One of the most important skills our children learn is reading. Reading creates a strong, positive influence and builds a foundation for a lifetime of significant benefits.

PARP stands for Parents As Reading Partners. PARP is a program designed to foster the love of reading in children by asking parents to set aside 15 minutes daily to read with their children.

We invite you to participate Eggert Elementary School's "Slide into Summer." Your child will receive a flyer with information regarding the activities planned for PARP this summer. He/she will also receive a free book based on his/her grade level to keep and read over the summer. This will serve as their "PARP book." Students are also encouraged to participate in our goal for reading 10,000 pages school-wide before the start of the new school year.  Your participation can be tracked by taking our quick survey: http://www.opschools.org/eggert.cfm?subpage=7430

Thank you for your help and participation in PARP.
